Back from Amsterdam - EBRC 2004

I am back from Amsterdam where I presented Mandarax at the 4th European Business Rules Conference (EBRC2004) together with Gerd Wagner from the University of Eindhoven. I had a number of interesting talks with various people and a number of ideas how to continue with Mandarax in the future. I just want to mention one: a possible cooperation with Gerd and Terry Halpin on integrating Mandarax and Object Role Modeling (ORM). In ORM, derivation rules can be modelled, and mandarax would be the perfect tool to execute them. The interaction point would be the XML representation of the ORM model and Mandarax repository (i.e., the repository concept has to be moved from Oryx into core mandarax).

We (i.e., Gerd, Sergej Lukichev and myself) also started to implement the EURent scenario using Mandarax. This example is used by the business rule community to compare several rule engine solutions. The discounting part has been implemented (using Oryx, as we also wanted to show the verbalization), I will put it on the web site asap. It is (as a separate subproject) on the mandarax CVS server).
